The number #1 reason why startups fail is because there is no market need for the product or service they are building. By now, this startup maxim is engrained in the brain of whomever claims to know anything on building scalable businesses from scratch.

So how to prevent this from happening to your startup or corporate venture? Often the advice founders receive goes somewhat like this: "just talk to customers" or 'do some customer interviews'. Those one-liners however, do not help young founders. In doing customer validation, founders deserve to be thought HOW to speak to customers.

Luuk is the Head of Innovation for XNode. He is a serial entrepreneur with three businesses and a successful exit. Luuk has coached and accelerated 100’s of startups and corporates ventures over the last years both in Europe and in China. In the past, Luuk set up an internal innovation program for Ernst & Young across the EMEIA region. Charles Ikiel Ptito-Echeverria – CEO Ask Jerry

Ask Jerry the way we know it today is the result of a competition launched by Pernod Ricard which resulted in an investment on Tippler (Charles) and Lemons (Alex) team. Tippler, a 1h alcohol delivery platform was founded by Charles. Prior to starting Tippler, Charles worked for a large wine importing company in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone called Ode to Wine. It was this experience and connect on that prompted him to convince Ode to Wine owner to invest in Tippler.

 


Alex Lessard – CMO Ask Jerry 


After 4 years experience in China building digital market entry strategies and new product innovation strategies for both B2B & B2C multinationals, Alex launched Lemons Cocktail – Shanghai’s first high end cocktail catering provider, working closely with clients such as Chanel and Mini. He joined Ask Jerry Challenge together with Charles, which resulted in an Investment from Pernod Ricard.  

 

Avery  - Le Wagon

Avery started her career in real estate consulting with CBRE and private equity investments with a small family office before becoming a mother of two and changing careers to focus more on her passion for technology. She now works as camp manager at Le Wagon Shanghai, and a freelance developer helping entrepreneurs bring great ideas alive.
